1st Quarter - 2004

Introduction

Initiatives noted below are a combination of day-to-day work and new initiatives suggested by riders that the board implements.

January 2004

• Held WCA open member meeting at Meghaan's restaurant in Lake Mills. A record number of clubs attended (40 representatives from 19 clubs) and a draft of the 2004 WCA road schedule was developed
• WCA board member elections held; the 2004 board was renewed
• Discussed suggested changes to the road series with club representatives including: a new sprint points system, a “best all-round rider” omnium, updating the road Wis. Cup guidelines
• Renewed contract with Photo Finish
• Officials training clinic held; record turnout

February

• Officials clinic scheduled
• 2004 WCA Cup road schedule released
• Promoter packets sent to promoters
• First paid ads accepted for WCA website
• Collegiate Nationals news section added to WCA website

March

• New “Junior Hub” column added to WCA website (written by Lowell Kellogg)
• Heidi Mingesz schedules moto ref clinic
• Process for placing race results on website resolved
• 2004 WCA Racing Guidelines revised and published on website
• Kudos received from riders on the website (many!) so thanks to Rachel, Heidi, Lowell and everyone who has submitted information and news
