Team name: Atkins Citizen Racing Club

Based in Madison, the Atkins Citizen Racing Club is for competitive cyclists who view enjoyment of the sport as the most important goal. As our name indicates, we are a Racing club. Our members compete enthusiastically at many levels and in many venues. Somewhat uniquely, the word Citizen is also in our name, representing our roots in the Wisport Cycling Series and indicating that we strive to keep competitive aspirations within the larger context of fitness, camaraderie and enjoyment.

This balanced philosophy allows us to accommodate a larger range of racers and would-be racers than most bicycle racing clubs. The Atkins Citizen Racing Club strives to be the most welcoming point of entry to the world of bike racing and a place where recreational racers are supported and encouraged throughout their sporting lives.

Sponsors: The club formed around the Atkins Bicycle Shoppe in Verona, Wisconsin in the early 1990s. Owned and operated by Dan Atkins, the shop provides advice and technical expertise unmatched by any other area bike shop. Other Madison area businesses who value our team philosophy have generously contributed to our success. These fine businesses include Meriter Health Services, Miller & Sons Supermarket, Berghoff Beer, and Culver's Restaurant on Todd Drive.
