Race Update from Tour of L'Abitibi

E-mail Print PDF

Stage 6 of the 2010 Tour of L'Abitibi held in store for riders the Urban Circuit Race, which consisted of 7 laps on a 12 km loop in the town of Val-d'Or. The team was down to 4 ISCorp riders. Vance Fletcher and Sam Geyer both crashed on Stage 4 with about 10 km to go. Each of them broke their helmets but finished the stage. Vance and Sam did not start stage 5 since Vance broke his wrist, and it swelled up overnight, and Sam has a history of several head injuries, so no more tour for both of them. In all the teams I've taken to l'Abitibi, we have always had an intact team going into the final stage. However, Vance and Sam did finish their stages, but their injuries are serious enough not to go on. They did not quit the tour, but their injuries simply will not allow them to continue. James Bird is top GC man on the team followed by Thomson Remo. Paul Kumm is riding well despite being in the caravan twice on Stage 1. Chazz Martin had to ride the spare bike into town yesterday after a crash and non-functioning rear deraileur. Chazz was last in the stage but made the time cut.
