Tips for Excellent Race Registration Crew

• Review the WCA start sheets and results forms with the registration crew or chief registration staff
• What to do if a rider forgets his/her license:
  1. If the rider states that he/she has a current USAC license but forgot to bring it, registration personnel instruct the rider to fill out an annual renewal form. They should write "DUPLICATE" in large letters across the form, and pay the annual license fee either by check or credit card. If the rider already has a license, USAC will destroy the duplicate form and check. If not, it will be processed. Race organizers are advised NOT to have these riders write one check for license and registration!
  2. If the rider has an expired license, they can renew their license by filling out the renewal form (in race packets given to each promoter by M. Hanley) and paying their renewal fee on the spot. The rider MUST get their copy of the form which is their proof of purchase, and show this in lieu of a license until they receive their permanent one.
  3. If the rider claims they mailed in their license renewal and/or application but have not yet received their license, follow the same procedure as "1"
• Make two copies of a picture of a sample jersey, indicating which side the number is pinned on. Sample included in the promoter's packet. Post these!
• Instruct volunteer staff to use good handwriting on results and start sheets!!
• Registration staff must record the rider's home state on the start sheets and the results forms.
• Have registration people set up a half hour before you advertise your registration time to begin. That way you have time to answer last minute questions.
• Find out from the chief referee which official will be acting as registrar. This person will deal with license issues, or other questions the registration staff may have.
• Verify the rider's age and category.
  • Junior riders may ride in races for older juniors or seniors.
  • Masters riders may ride in races for younger masters or seniors.
  • No rider may ride in a category other than that which is printed on his/her license.
  • Women riders may enter categorized races for men that are one category lower than their own, except that category 1 women may race two categories lower.
  • Category 3 and 4 women who are over age 35 may race in masters men's races up to 20 years greater than their racing age.
